Anna Carol Shirley

Anna Carol Shirley, age 74, of Glasgow passed away on Sunday, August 6 at T.J. Sampson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Virgle White and Mary Garrett White. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 on Wednesday, August 9th at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the service. Anna is survived by her husband Bill Shirley of Glasgow. Six Children, Phyllis Wheeler of Edmonton, Rondal (Anna) Huff of Summer Shade, Teresa (Joey) Brown, Lisa (Jimmie) Wilson both of Edmonton, Greg (Ashley) Huff of Glasgow, and Diana (Philip) Leszczewicz of Bowling Green. Six Step-Children, Joyce (Verlon) Grissom of Knob Lick, Dwayne Shirley, Sandy (Kenneth) Froedge both of Edmonton, Lisa (James) Bragg, Tracy (Lisa) Shirley, and Mark (Cynthia) Shirley all of Glasgow. Twenty-two grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. Three brothers Pate white of Edmonton, Owen (Sue) White of Edmonton, and Van White of Glasgow. Anna was proceeded in death by one son, Donald Huff, Two great-grandchildren, Grayson Wayne Hurt and Tanner Lee Huff. Three Sisters, Dixie Boston, Mildred Boston, and Winnie Wallace.

 BROWNSVILLE, Ky.- Magdlene “Maggie” Davis Raymer, 89, of Louisville passed away August 6, 2017 in Louisville.
     The Edmonson County native was Owner and operator of Magdlene’s Beauty Salon and was a member of Larchmont Church of God. She was the daughter of the late Willie Davis and Alma Self Davis. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Paul, Claude and Frank Davis.
     Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Doyle Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-6 PM (EDT) at Owen Funeral Home in Louisville and after 10 AM Friday at Gravil Funeral Home.
     Surviving are a brother, Vertran Davis (Norma) of Louisville; three nephews, Rick Davis (Teresa), Danny Davis (Martha) and David Davis (Lynn); and two nieces, Delores Koralia (Chuck) and Janet Pfister.

Pauline “Polly” Rigsby

Pauline “Polly” Rigsby 92 of Glasgow died Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.  She was born October 16, 1924 the daughter of the late Tennyson and Inos Parke Franklin.

Pauline graduated from Summer Shade High School in 1941 and graduated from Norton Memorial Infirmary in 1947.  She worked 19 years as a nurse at Howard Clinic where she also taught nursing.  She worked at T. J. Samson Hospital for 25 years as a nursing supervisor.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Glasgow.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Rigsby, two daughters Peggy Ross and Patricia Cumbee, a sister Margarite Franklin and a brother LeeRoy Franklin.  She is survived by two grandsons David Jones (Kim) of Bowling Green and Corey Jones (Patti Jo “PJ”) of Glasgow, a granddaughter Kaela Cumbee of Chico, CA and two great-grandchildren Marlee and Jacob Ross Jones.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 9th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00am until 2:00pm.

Margaret Alice Steenbergen

Margaret Alice Steenbergen 91 of Cave City died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow.  The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Charles Garrett McCue and Myrtie Kinslow McCue.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. D. Steenbergen, Jr. and a sister Viola McCue Dennison (Herb).

Margaret was a homemaker and a member of the Jefferson Homemakers club and a member of the Dover Baptist Church at Haywood.

She is survived by her two sons, Garry Steenbergen (Teresa) and Larry Steenbergen (Sheila) both of Cave City; three grandchildren J. D. Steenbergen III of Elizabethtown, Sara Layne Tucker (Todd) of Greensburg and Shannon Shirley (John) of Lucas.  Three great-grandchildren also survive, Ann Marie and Jacob Shirley and Zoe Matthews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, August 10th at A. F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Wednesday.
